The above might sound negative, but like I said, those things aside it's the best of the 3 development platforms.

It's probably on par with Android in this respect. it's just not as streamlined when it comes to building UIs as iOS is. Felt like a history lesson in some respects ) As a new developer when you go looking through documentation it's really hard to make sure you've found the right APIs to be using, and even then it's hard if you don't know the history of how things changed through those transitions. the confusion over 7.0 -> 8.0 -> 8.1 API changes. In terms of libraries, soooo many abandoned wp 7.0 and 8.0 libraries that look like they were good in there day. Cast urethane parts are often compared to injection molding materials. So a lot of people end up re-inventing the same thing. Polyurethane casting can also be used for bridge-tooling between a 3D printed. nowhere near enough people developing for it, which means not many good third party libraries and common problems are often hard to find answers for. That said it's actually the hardest one to develop for. They have the nicest language in C# as well (though that's a religious debate that I don't want to argue with people over). What is this, like a Reddit AMA or something? Ok last answer one :-Pįunnily enough MS I'd say has the best SDK and IDE out there.

But if you've been looking for something to devour your podcasts and haven't yet found something that feels right, check out Pocket Casts. There are a couple of things it doesn't currently support, like the import/export of OPML files (though it is something Pocket Casts deals with elsewhere, so it's possible for the future) and there doesn't seem to be any current support for video podcasts.Īnd it's only just arrived. Even if you're not, it's up there with the very best podcast apps Windows Phone has to offer.
Shifty Jelly has done some fine work, and if you're a cross-platform device user, this is definitely the one to have.
This is the real deal, the proper Pocket Casts, and it's excellent.

So, what's it like to actually use when you put all this together? I'm fortunate enough to have been playing around with it for a few weeks now and I'm not at all disappointed. All pretty self explanatory, but all well worth browsing through if your library needs freshening up. There's three headings: Featured, Trending and Most Popular. It's got a fantastic Discover section which has a whole host of shows to recommend to you. But Pocket Casts is also pretty handy when it comes to finding new shows to listen to. Downcast has a clear advantage over Instacast when it comes to keyboard control.So far, it's all been about the listening experience. When Downcast isn’t in the foreground, you can play or pause with the F8 key, skip 30 seconds back with the F7 key, and skip 30 seconds forward with the F9 key. Instead, you can play or pause a podcast in the app by hitting the Space bar, and skip forward or back 30 seconds by pressing Command and eitherthe right or left arrow key. or the Mold Number alone without any letters at all. that might be found in the mold description. Enter a sequence of letters that make up ONE word or part of a word. Downcast ignores the Mac’s media keys entirely. We offer over 16,600 different molds from 59 companies to search on. Even when enabled, using media keys to control Instacast is spotty - sometimes it works and sometimes it launches iTunes by mistake. A bug in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion means that you have to enable the Gatekeeper security feature in order to control Instacast playback from the keyboard (which, to be fair, isn’t a major liability - for most people, Gatekeeper should be enabled).
Instacast stubbornly tries to use the Mac’s media keys to control playback, which leads to all kinds of problems. Downcast has some nice advantages over Instacast.
